  1. Just read it. It’s funny how something so trivial can blow up. Maybe if reality shows didn’t try to guide the reality but just let it happen, it would work out okay.

I like this blog that you linked to. I may have to add it.

  2. I love that blog, they’re hilarious in their write-ups of Top Chef. Did you notice the corn scratching post at the top of the blog? Redonk.

Yah, I read about the scallop “scandal” before seeing the episode and thought, “what the frig?” and while I was watching the episode I was like, “what’s the big freakin’ deal?” It was Spike’s choice to take those scallops, in the end it happened to a bad one, end of story. Spike wasn’t gonna win anyway…

  3. First off. I LOVE Allen Bros. We would skip beef rather than NOT get their delicious tasty food. We pick it up often at the loading dock in the Stockyards.

Second off. In Chicago, only an idiot doesn’t get fresh fish from the Fish Guy. He is Charlie Trotter’s purveyor. I am lucky that he is just a couple of blocks from my NW Chicago home. Again. Not everyone is so lucky

Third off, not everyone across the country has access to fresh seafood, so I see the point to having the ability to get frozen divers scallops. So Allen Bros. providing them is a great service. But I wouldn’t use them on TV. In a competition. and I would never try to sear them after they were frozen.

Spike was an idiot and Rick Tramonto was a weasel. They were in his kitchen. Period. He gets those steaks from ALLEN BROS. Don’t be a pussy. Stand by your guys, you twit.

BTW. he has a reputation in town of being an unreasonable jerk. lots of chef’s in town are viewed as demanding jerks… Unreasonable is the key. And alot of the food at some of his other restaurants is too precious for words. (But that is MY opinion as I have eaten at some of them)
