weekend recap because you like it when I tell you what I did all day

Saturday
Bright and early at 1:00pm-ish Dawg and I ventured out into the world to do errands.

First errand was dry cleaning. When we got there a black SUV pulled up next to us with Donkey in the driver’s seat and The Steff’s mom in the passenger’s seat. The irony of this is that Donkey just got back into town Friday night after being gone for a very long time for some work training.

Dropped off the dry cleaning (Dawg’s uniform shirts) and headed to the laundromat to drop off our laundry. Other than being called the Long Island Lolitas (the woman behind the counter couldn’t remember who we were so guessed our name was “Fisher”) the laundromat was uneventful.

We then headed to Georgia Diner — my favorite — where I had a turkey sandwich and Dawg had a bacon cheeseburger with fries. YUM. After the diner we headed over to Target where we bought:

3 dress shirts (for me)
1 pair of trousers (for me)
1 short-sleeved shirt (for me)
1 A&W Root Beer (for Dawg)
1 Axe smell-really-good-turn-good-girls-naughty kit (for Dawg)
1 crock pot
1 toaster
3 soup bowls
2 cereal bowls
1 flatware set

We then headed over to the Super Stop & Shop and did a full shopping. They now carry my favorite beer, Three Philosophers, so I was happy to buy some there instead of having to go all the way to New Jersey for New York-brewed beer.

After shopping we came home and got the sweetest parking spot directly in front of the apartment building then unloaded the truck. Some time later we had Bourbon rotisserie chicken from the supermarket (VERY tasty) and Stove Top stuffing with gravy. Ahhhhhhhh. And then Dawg did most of the dishes in the sink because he is the best boyfriend EVAR.

To celebrate me getting a job Dawg broke out the Absinthe. Here’s a little video of preparing the Absinthe:

It was my first time trying it. I didn’t like it even a little bit and I didn’t drink enough to see faeries (spelling very much intentional) so I’ll have to try again to acquire that taste. Oh well. Dawg, on the other hand, enjoyed his Absinthe. He’s had it many times before and appreciates its anise-y taste. We tried watching SNL while drinking the Absinthe but it was a repeat so we just turned off the TV and went to bed.

Sunday
A night of sleep later I woke up at 7:07am to kitties wanting their treat. I got up to feed them and almost went back to bed but instead I chose to finish washing the dishes left in the sink then clean the kitchen and bathroom. At 9:28am I crawled back into bed and Dawg fluttered his eyes opened, grabbed me to him, and told me he was getting up so we could be ready for another day of errands. Argh, I had hoped to go back to sleep. He said I should!, so I did until 10:30am when I woke up and took a quick shower then we headed out.

First errand of the day was for me to drive my poor neglected Kia that hasn’t been driven in about two weeks to the Queens Center Mall for clothes and shoe shopping and lunch at the food court. Here’s some mall footage and a bonus bit of footage back home using one of the objects purchased:

After shopping we drove over to pick up the laundry from the day before then drove to East Meets West to pick up Chinese food to eat during “True Blood” tonight.

When we got home I got a call from Dawg’s mom (she calls me to make plans; I love that) and now we’re having pot roast dinner at her house on Wednesday, yippy!

And that brings you up to current. Probably more stuff will happen tonight but my prediction is that involves Chinese food, “True Blood”, and things you don’t want to hear about. :winks:

So, yup, that’s the weekend. Hope you had a good one! I know we did!

  1. So totally off topic, but sort of on topic (haha), I always tell Shawn that there are two types of people…those who spell it “fairy” and those who spell it “faerie”. I always call the latter “Fay Ray” by the way! Hey, poet!

Uh anyway, what was my point? Oh yeah, none really. I’ll let you guess how I spell the aforementioned word.

And seriously, what a great haul! I wish I lived somewhere where I could buy cute winter clothes! I want boots and sweaters and nasty sexy belts that pop!

  2. It’s like you two have your own language. Crazy kids. ;-)

You don’t like Absinthe?? What’s wrong with you?

Kidding. I don’t mind it, but I also don’t care if I ever have it again. Had to try it once for the novelty, though.

  3. Well, you’re right, I definitely like the recaps!! I especially like that you TELL me I like them. Rowr! Haha!
    Awesome fricking loot this weekend!
I need to go shopping soon – too bad I hate it!

  4. That was one hella big absinthe drinky you kids made! Woot.

I’ve only had it once and it was a lot, how you say, cloudier. Does the cloudiness come from how fast you drip the water onto the sugar-cube?

    Anywho…RW will be proud.

  5. Okay, do you know what I got out of this post? The absolutely adorable kitty at the end. I forget the whole rest of the post. Something about shopping and drinking and belts and boots and then the kitty did me in.

    I heart that cat.

  6. I would just like to point out that when I started this weekend… I was not marked. After this weekend… well… not so sure. :laughs:

B.E. Earl, yes the absinthe “cloud” is normally more dominant… I’ve had cloudier success with a different method of preparation where the sugar gets lit on fire.

  7. Okay, you must tell me about the whole people not wanting to know what you did for the day. I feel really out of the loop.

I loved “seeing” you and Dawg again. I loved hearing your voice again.

I couldn’t drink the absinthe either. blech. For some reason, I had it in my head that it looked more like Creme de Menthe. If it tastes like Jager, maybe you could put some Red Bull in it and make it taste better.

  8. Mr. Twinkie got a bottle of absinthe for his birthday but we have absolutely NO idea how to drink it. So it just sits there. Taunting us. Laughing and pointing and calling us names.
