The Challenge

Every time I meet a new lady doctor I warn her that I always feel violated for several days after the physical exam. I am convinced that me saying this activates The Challenge Gene in them, a competition of sorts to be the most gentle they possibly can be, gentler than any of their predecessors or successors.

Today’s visit with my new doctor was the gentlest anyone has ever been.

And I still feel all crampy and violated. :) *sigh*

There is no winning with me, Doc.

  1. We all feel that, Poppy. We just work it in different places. I can’t fly anymore. but my doctor appt. I can tolerate. But the feeling up that I must endure to travel by air is almost insurmountable.

    Be strong

  2. I can’t much relate to this, but maybe you can take a shred of solace in your ability to manipulate Doctors as you please? I mean, that IS an achievement.

  3. I am so crampy and sore today I had to take Midol. Ridiculous!

It is quite an unintended accomplishment to make healthcare providers compete over me.

  4. Yep. It doesn’t matter how gentle they are, or how warm the instruments are – it can still hurt! And my gyno is really freaking amazing!

  5. Seriously delicate flower. Today I started cramping so bad that I was supposed to go to the ambulance corps tonight but made Dawg take me home from the train instead so I could rest up. It’s like a saw poked around up in there. Awful. :(

  6. I totally feel you. I like my lady doctor now, but the last one scraped my lady bites like she was trying to get the last bit of yogurt out of the cup….it hurt like hell and I was sore for days. Wench. My current warms the gel and the speculum before he goes in. It’s not painless but it’s better.

  7. I always have an ick feeling for a while after too, no matter how used to the various pokings and proddings they do I am. It’s just, ew. I know it’s necessary, but I don’t have to like it.
