do you remember the time?

For some reason, Michael Jackson is channeling himself through me to provide you with that earworm. You’re welcome.

Today I learned a lesson in keeping silent. I was witness to two family members arguing with each other about a topic that tends to polarize people. I started to write to them that their parents would be HORRIFIED at their behavior, that I didn’t understand why they were fighting to force their beliefs on each other, that I knew they were raised better than that.

Truth is, I don’t actually know that. And truth is, it’s none of my fucking business. If two adults want to have a public display of disaffection, that is totally up to them. It’s unpleasant for me, but I have the choice to stop staring at that train wreck and walk away. They both think they’re right. And when they cool off and gain some perspective or talk it over with other people they will either affirm their “rightness” or will realize what total rubbish they were spewing and that there are way more important things in the world like puppies and rainbows and butterflies and shoes.
